Her daughter is getting married in a few months

4 Jul

30 years ago when Carol got married, she chose a simple cream wedding gown for her big day and instead of having beading or sequins on her wedding gown. Carol opted to wear a head piece with a long veil.

Carol wore the head piece and long veil, for her wedding ceremony and then cut her veil, to don a shorter veil for the reception.

After Carol’s wedding, she cleaned and preserved her wedding gown.

Her daughter is getting married in a few months and was thinking about wearing Carol’s head piece and veil for her wedding day.

Carol brought her wedding gown into our Ellesmere location, to see if we could open the preservation chest and help her remove the veil and head piece in order show her daughter.

The head piece and veil look the same as they did, the day Carol wore them. Now, Carol’s daughter must decided if she would like to wear the head piece and veil as is, or if she would like to remove the veil and only wear the headpiece.

“It is great to have the option” said her daughter.

Mrs Walker has been using Parkers for a number of years and knew that we cleaned and preserved wedding gowns, but she was uncertain if we could help her out.

Mrs Walker had her wedding gown cleaned and preserved 30 years ago, when she was married. Over the course of the last 30 years Mrs Walker’s family has moved a number of times. Her preserved wedding gown was in the basement and the preservation chest was all beaten up.

Recently two of Mrs Walker’s daughters got engaged, and the other evening they went to open up the wedding gown preservation chest to see what the dress looked like. One of the daughters was thinking of wearing the veil. The gown looked fantastic, but the veil needed a bit of tender loving care. Some of the beading was loose.

Mrs Walker wanted to know if we could remove and repair the veil, and re-preserve her wedding gown.

Our expert seamstress was able to fix the loose beading on the veil, and our gown specialists were happy to place Mrs Walker’s wedding gown in a new preservation chest.

While none of her daughters wish to wear her wedding gown, they may use the material to make a baptismal gown that all four daughters will use in the future.

Below is how the wedding gown looked when it was brought into our store.
