The farm may not have been that smart of an idea

1 Nov

When Janet got married at her parents’ farm house, she thought it would be a great idea to have their wedding photos taken in the barn; she had no idea what it would do to her wedding dress.

Janet’s wedding dress was dragged through the muddy grass, and the wet barn floor causing the hems and bottom of her gown to get covered in mud and dirt. And while they were taking some of the photographs Janet got her gown caught on some wood and nails and got holes in the lace fabric by her waist.

Janet brought her wedding dress to Parkers Cleaners, so that our experts could clean, repair and preserve her wedding gown.

Annabelle’s wedding gown needed extra special attention.

When Annabelle chose her wedding gown she had no idea of the problems that she would have with her wedding gown on her big day.

Annabelle brought her wedding gown into our Bayview and York Mills location with hopes that our wedding specialists would be able to clean, preserve and repair her wedding gown.

One of the things Annabelle loved about her wedding gown was the different layers of ruffling at the front and back of her dress. She loved the flowing and twisting of the material and how it fell when she wore her gown.

The problem was that, the layers were all different lengths and Annabelle kept tripping on the material during her wedding day. Annabelle’s wedding gown had tears scattered around the inner hems of her wedding gown. She was hoping that they could be repaired.

Prior to cleaning Annabelle’s wedding gown, our seamstress repaired as much of the damage as possible to the hems of her wedding gown.

Her wedding gown came our beautifully.

Her daughter is getting married in a few months

30 years ago when Carol got married, she chose a simple cream wedding gown for her big day and instead of having beading or sequins on her wedding gown. Carol opted to wear a head piece with a long veil.

Carol wore the head piece and long veil, for her wedding ceremony and then cut her veil, to don a shorter veil for the reception.

After Carol’s wedding, she cleaned and preserved her wedding gown.

Her daughter is getting married in a few months and was thinking about wearing Carol’s head piece and veil for her wedding day.

Carol brought her wedding gown into our Ellesmere location, to see if we could open the preservation chest and help her remove the veil and head piece in order show her daughter.

The head piece and veil look the same as they did, the day Carol wore them. Now, Carol’s daughter must decided if she would like to wear the head piece and veil as is, or if she would like to remove the veil and only wear the headpiece.

“It is great to have the option” said her daughter.
