Charlotte had a special request.

26 Sep

Charlotte came into our Manulife location with a special request and timeline.

Charlotte got married last weekend and is getting ready to leave for England on her honeymoon.

Charlotte made arrangements to sell her wedding gown, and it just so happened that the bride-to-be that Charlotte sold her wedding gown too, lives in England.

Charlotte promised the to-be-bride that she would have the wedding dress cleaned prior to selling the gown.

As the new bride lives in England, Charlotte thought it would be easier and less costly if she took the wedding dress with her to England instead of shipping the wedding gown.

Charlotte was leaving in a week, and was hoping that Parkers would be able to clean her wedding gown and then package the gown for easier travelling.

As Charlotte’s wedding gown was simple and light, Parkers was able to package her wedding gown in a destination travel kit. The travel kit, includes a carry handle, and fits most airline overhead bins.

Did you wait to clean your wedding gown?

13 Jun

Often when I meet a bride to pick up her wedding gown, I am told that the bride was married 2-3 years ago.

While our experts will do their best to remove all of the stains from the wedding gowns, the longer a stain has time to sit and or spread, the more difficult it is to remove the stain.

Recently I have begun to ask some of these brides why they waited so long. There are two common answers: they just bought a house and thought it was time, or they recently had a baby and figured they should take care of their wedding gown before it was too late.

If you are going to wait on cleaning and/or preserving your wedding gown, there are a few things you shouldn’t do.

Do not store your wedding gown in a plastic or vinyl garment cover.

Do not leave your wedding gown in a ball on the floor of your closet. This can cause permanent wrinkles to set into your wedding gown.

Do not store your wedding gown in a basement or attic. This may lead to moisture and mould.

Parkers Dry Cleaners offers free pickup and delivery for wedding gown cleaning, preservation and destination wedding packaging.
